Founded in 1997 by Frédéric BARRA, SOGENA, BALGUERIE, SAGA and NORD CEREALES,
BARRA SNM takes over from SNC VEUVE PAUL BARRA & FILS, whose know-how was established in the port of Dunkirk from the beginning of the 20th century.
Stevedoring is its exclusive activity.
Three intervention sites :

On the East port, the company is specialized in discharging import copper and deals with regular lines with freight and tramping ships.

On the Central port, BARRA SNM operates on the North Cereals site (importation, barges discharging, exportation). Through its subsidiary STE, on Escaut dock, the company manages the import/export terminal for Arcelor Mittal and G.T.S.I. steel products.

On the West port, the company operates through another subsidiary, SSTD, on the RORO terminal of Transmanche. Norfolkline is its main client.
